RECIPE IDEA: MIX PERFORMANCE, HEALTH AND PLEASURE, IT'S POSSIBLE WITH A SPORTS SPECIAL SMOOTHIE
BANANA, MORE EFFECTIVE THAN ENERGY DRINKS
If there is a 100% natural food that should always accompany the athlete before training, it is banana. Antioxidant, low in calories, very digestible, it prevents cramps thanks to potassium and magnesium that it contains. In a recent article published in the scientific journal PLOS ONE, a study was conducted on a group of 14 high-level cyclists to prove the effectiveness of banana consumption before a race. At the end of the experiment, it seems that bananas are just as effective and healthier than energy drinks such as Redbull, Powerade etc. So, do not hesitate any more, consume it without depriving yourself.
HEALTHY AND NOURISHING RECIPE
In these hot summers, we wanted to share a nourishing, fresh and ideal smoothie recipe before a race. We have added to the benefits of banana, that of nuts (excellent for blood vessels and good natural antioxidant), oats, honey and vanilla. What delight all sports enthusiasts.
3 cups of skimmed milk
*If Lactose intolerant, replace almond milk
1 banane, coupée en morceaux
1 tablespoon organic honey (about 15ml)
1 \ 4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
A good handful of walnuts or fresh almonds
A small handful of oats
Using a blender, mix 6 ice cubes with all the ingredients in the blender pitcher. Blend for 45 seconds. Serve, enjoy and ride!
Tips: Depending on the size of the banana, your smoothie may be more or less compact. If you want to lighten it, add half a glass of milk (or almond milk) and some ice cubes, and remix it!
HYDRATION ADVICE DURING THE RACE
If you drive for several hours, consider hydrating yourself with sports drinks found in any specialty store. The big box drinks are stuffed with artificial sweeteners, flavors, dyes, caffeine and taurine, really not ideal for health and performance.
