The bicycle at the center of Cycle Néron's entrepreneurial spirit

Cycle Néron, fueling the passion of cycling.

Cycle Néron is the bicycle reference in Quebec since 1970. It is a love story with the bicycle world, a honeymoon that has lasted for more than fifty years, through three generations of enthusiasts.

The company would not be the same without the involvement of the Néron family. We had the opportunity to speak with Chloé Néron, the operations manager for Cycle Néron branches. She has been with the company since 2016 and is part of the third generation with her two sisters and her cousin. Their parents and uncle are also still very involved in the business.

How did you come to be involved with the family business?

"It came naturally. All the kids were in different schools, but the sense of belonging brought us together."

Chloé also adds that they all have an unconditional love for the organization, as a direct extension of the family. This bond at Cycle Néron has redirected each of the family members to the company, a third generation active in the day-to-day operations.

How did you find the right fit for everyone?

"My father and uncle created an ideal work environment for us to take over and take on more responsibility. From there, the younger members of the company were able to innovate in their own way. Online sales is one of the innovations brought by the younger people in the company."

This move into the world of online sales is a breath of fresh air for the company. It has allowed the company to adapt to this major trend, while keeping the personalized aspect in store.

What do you think sets you apart from your competitors?

"We are very concerned about our professionalism at all levels; it is important for us that our customers feel it as much during our interactions as in the quality of the products they will find in our inventory. We love to advise new cyclists and we want to guide and include customers who are not yet experienced. It's important to us that everyone is an integral part of the customer experience because we all have something to contribute and our color to add. Both my dad and my uncle are involved in this and that's what makes all the difference."

Cycle Néron is committed to offering not only top of the line equipment to the experts, but also impeccable customer service to all in-store customers regardless of their level of cycling experience. It is fair to say that this vision shared by all employees influences the structure and operation of this company where customer service predominates.

What is the essential composition of a good bike store according to Cycle Néron?

"The company advocates communication with its customers as well as with its employees. This means sharing the family aspect, being able to adapt to all possible employee/customer situations. It is also important to accompany the employees who enter the Néron family and to give them the appropriate tools to grow. This is what allows them in turn to be responsive to the specifics of each customer by accompanying them through their shopping experience, whatever their needs."

How were you able to adapt to the exponential popularity of cycling during the pandemic?

"We were able to adapt very quickly despite the unexpected situation. We started overnight delivery without delay. Everyone was assigned tasks, whether it was answering the phone or making deliveries across Quebec. My father and uncle were also at the heart of the operation."
