This jacket represents a modern interpretation of the classic wind shell — the essential layer riders keep in their pocket for long descents or wear during the first hour of a ride until temperatures rise. Traditionally, wind shells were simple nylon garments. However, due to the lack of stretch, they needed to be cut generously to accommodate various body shapes, both on and off the bike.

Castelli has completely reimagined what a shell jacket should be and how it should perform. By incorporating highly stretchable yet tightly knit fabric panels along the sides and sleeves, they have achieved a modern, close-to-body fit that enhances aerodynamics across all terrain. This refined fit not only improves performance but also retains more warmth compared to a loose, flapping jacket.

Despite its advanced construction, the jacket remains extremely compact, allowing it to pack down easily into a jersey pocket. The stretch panels are treated with a water-repellent finish to provide protection against light mist, though it is not intended to function as a full rain jacket.
